Sythyry’s Journal Coverby Tod on 13 Jan 2010, 3:54pmHere’s something I just finished! Characters are copyright Bard Bloom. This is the cover art for the upcoming print edition of Sythyry’s Journal, which can be found at www.sythyry.com. It’s been ten years since I did some of the illustrations for the World Tree RPG, and I had a great time returning to this setting. leave a commentart: dog dragon illustration insect otter world tree |

Ekwara Day Art!by Tod on 6 Dec 2009, 5:05pmHere’s all the Ekwara Day art from your prompts and questions. A couple of these I’ve already posted, with a little more explanation of how it fits into the setting. When I took the prompts, I said I needed to handle shipping logistics and payment once these were done. If you would like your picture mailed to you, please send me an email with the filename of your picture and your mailing address. I also need two dollars to cover mailing and supplies, if you’re in the US, and if you’re outside the US, let me know, so we can work out the exact shipping cost. My email address is coyotepuck@gmail.com Onward to the art! leave a commentart: djinni drau ekwara grevican illustration jaunx laeki magpie pandril vedrig wyvern |
Woosh!by Tod on 3 Dec 2009, 12:32amOkay, I spent the day working on icons and will keep on plugging through those until they’re done. I’ll upload those when they’re done, and the Ekwara pictures, and then I’m doing a mail run to drop badges and some other art in the mail - including Ekwara pictures for people who want them shipped (there will be a post about this when go up). I bought an analog alarm clock, which is awesome. I’ve always wanted one of these! Now I can wake up on time, again. I went for a nice walk, today. I noticed there are a lot of dandelions in bloom. I must have walked past them a bunch of times since I’ve been here, but they only stood out to me, today, because I was so surprised to see flowers in December. Hats told me, the climate is mild, but that’s still a fun surprise. leave a commentart: cat illustration jaunx magic |
This pain in my neck is a real pain in the neckby Tod on 1 Dec 2009, 2:13pmI’m pretty sore, today. At risk of great boredom, I’m going to take today to chill out and let my neck stop hurting. I’ll get back to work tomorrow, or today if I feel up to it. I know a couple minutes ago I posted this intending to work, today, but when my neck/shoulder goes wonky like this, it can stay this way for days, and I can’t afford that right now. Maybe today I’ll write. So, as soon as I can, finishing up Icon and Ekwara Day, and some sketches owed. I also need to get stuff in the mail when that’s done. Then, onward! Short post, today, but here’s a thing: leave a commentart: ekwara illustration jaunx vedrig |

Hello.by Tod on 30 Nov 2009, 3:15pmIt is Monday! I am awake! It’s 11 already! Whoops! Yesterday, I got a fair amount done, and I’m pretty happy with that. ETA: I need one more day for the icons. I got a lot done today, but need to throw in the towel for the evening, on account of a sore neck. Once the icons are finished, I’ll do Griffon day, probably on the 2nd. Watch this space for details! Griffen Day, by the by, is not just going to be limited to combining random birds with random felines, no! You will be able to pick up to four animals to combine. I’m going to limit them to general categories, to come up with weird creatures in the sphinx/gryffen/minotaur mold. It’ll be good times, and there will be an icon option for folks who’d rather get a picture of their character. I’ve decided that I’m definitely going to do the Mystery Card Day, and will think of a day to schedule it. I have a sore neck, and feel a little crummy today, but morale is good. I have cold pizza for breakfast, and candy. I need to do my to-do list for December. I have a few long-term projects that need to be wrapped up, like the tarot deck, getting my portfolio out, and getting stuff up on Zazzle. I need to not lose track of these things. Here is some art! A picture for Mottenfest! Superhero-y comic book action! The pigeons are confused! This is another commission. leave a commentart: ferret illustration jackal superhero weasel |
This post has nothing to do with owlbearsby Tod on 29 Nov 2009, 3:08pmI think it works out best for me to do daily posts without a set format, though I’d like to include art and sketches as often as possible, and talk about various worldbuilding things along with whatever’s going on. Except nothing is really going on. I’m just working a ton on getting myself where I want to be on my art list, before December starts up. Today I’m tackling more of the icons, and the last bit of another commission. I’m also working on sketches for new art, which is really fun. I want to do Griffon Day next, but I had a really fun idea for a Day I want to do some time. The theme could be all kinds of things, or it could be mostly open, with a few guidelines to give it some structure. I like the idea of a theme, because those have ended up being pretty cool. No one else could see these prompts, though. I draw art cards from all the prompts, shuffle the cards, and mail them randomly to everyone who participated. Everyone would get a surprise card! I need to figure out how to do it so that I get paid enough for my time with it, though, because art cards plus shipping for everyone is a little more than I can tackle for free. I will have to think about it. I suppose I could do it as a sale instead of for tips. I figured out how to make simple papercraft bobbleheads. I was sitting around bored, when I first moved in to the new place, plotted out the design, and made some prototypes. I haven’t done anything with it, since, because I’ve been lacking my light box, which I had to leave back home. Well, I broke down and bought another one. As it turns out, it’s half as bulky as my old one, which is a serious convenience for taking it along to cons. The lack of this equipment has been putting a serious slowdown on my productivity, and I’m really happy to have one, again. I’m going to use it to fine-tune my template, and then make some bobble-headed critters! Not today, though. Today’s for work! Ekwara stuff! I’m thinking about the grevians a lot, lately, because I’ve been fleshing out Aldus’ and Pel’s (she acquired a name!) character designs. Grevicans are a little odd, as far as their biology and gender roles go, and I’m trying to figure out how to present it within the story. I think I’m going to do a separate post for that, behind a cut. I finished this for Newenglander, yesterday.
