Ekwaraby Tod on 31 May 2010, 4:53pmFight scenes are challenging for me to draw, so this is a little rougher a draft than I’d like. I want to tweak the angles and details for the final version, but here you go - tomorrow’s page! Artslam starts tomorrow! I’m excited! leave a commentart: ekwara |
Comics!by Tod on 29 May 2010, 11:38amOf course, Ekwara’s been updating all week! In other news, Zazzle is doing a Memorial Day sale for this weekend with some big discounts on a few things. Use the coupon code MEMORIALSALE at checkout to get 50% off posters, 40% of business cards and 30% off aprons. I have three pieces up in my shop on sale as posters, and a handful of designs on aprons, along with a few business card templates (though this reminds me to make more). The discount applies to all shops on Zazzle, too, and they have a ton of cool posters and whatnot. My shop is here! The Crimson Flag poster is here. leave a commentnews: comic crimson flag dracula |
by Tod on 28 May 2010, 6:37pmI want to redo this one, but that’ll happen, because that’s what the penciled pages are for, anyway. I had to write today off. I spent the day trying to draw, scribbling page after page of doodles, but nothing really came of it. I drew a bunny. I guess I’ll get my finished Zazzle stuff and this bunny up in the store in the next couple days. No rush, or anything. The next few days, I’ll be focusing in on the tip incentive pictures, to make sure those get done. Then, onward to June! I have a reason for being so distracted, today, and it’s a silly one. I keep trying to puzzle my way through the nature of the universe, and all that huge stuff, which is definitely a thought trap, and quite a sticky one. One thing always stays with me: no matter what is ultimately true, I know for a fact that I have the choice to interact with my fellow beings with love, and that choice is very important. I hope I can learn to remember to do that more often. leave a commentUncategorized: comic ekwara |
Thursdayby Tod on 27 May 2010, 5:38pmGET OFF MY LAWN! Today I finished this week’s Crimson Flag pencils, and am working on something for Razz. I also went for a walk, and got basil for my container garden. On my way home, I saw a grossbeak, and he sang a neat song before he noticed me and flew off. It’s a pretty low-key day. leave a commentart: comic ekwara garden |
Wednesdayby Tod on 26 May 2010, 4:42pmTomorrow’s Ekwara, a little earlier than usual. This morning was tough, but I worked through my mood and got stuff done. For the rest of the evening, I’ll be working more on Ekwara pages, and making banana bread and cilantro chicken. Since I’m out of butter, I’m going to try a recipe I found that substitutes avocado and a little oil for butter. I’ll let you guys know how that turns out. Hopefully well, because I am in the mood for some banana bread! For today’s art, I did this sketch of an alien and an alien kid: And behind the cut, painted versions of the wolf family, two aliens, steakosaurus, a unicorn and a worried dragon. I’ll be putting them into my Zazzle store on Friday. leave a commentart: alien comic dinosaur dragon ekwara unicorn wolf |
Tuesdayby Tod on 25 May 2010, 8:55pmThis is my container garden! Catnip is on top of the red bucket. Romaine lettuce is behind it. Cilantro is beside the lettuce, and the smaller containers are all spinach. I’m not using the red bucket as a container because it was too thick to get through with my knife. Alien concept sketch. Something to fight the little bobble-headed alien guys I’ve been drawing, maybe. leave a commentart: adventure alien badger comic commission drau ekwara garden red panda sketch tiger |

Friday Art, Saturday Comicsby Tod on 22 May 2010, 12:51pmFirst, comics! I didn’t get a post up yesterday, because I was off hanging out with friends last night. I decided to take the rest of the day off, but if I get any new art done today, I’ll upload it tonight. leave a commentart news: comic commission crimson flag dracula drau ekwara endrich jaunx magic |
Responsibility Dayby Tod on 20 May 2010, 8:36pmToday, I did something I’ve needed to do, but didn’t really want to do. I don’t want to talk about the specifics, but it’s taken care of, now, and that’s all well and good. Since then, I’ve been having a tough go of things, today, anxiety-wise. My brain’s told my body to go into fight (pretty dang irritable) or flight (augh panic!) mode, and now that my brain doesn’t have much to fret over, my body still hasn’t gotten the memo to knock that off. I continued with responsible mode, though, and pushed through my work for today, once I got home, despite that. I tried to remember these physical symptoms of anxiety are just that, and that even though I feel pretty crummy, I don’t have to let that prevent me from doing things. Here’s how far I got on the Ekwara commission, today: I inked and colored the peacock sketch from yesterday, and also set it up in my Zazzle shop. Clicking on the image takes you to that. I also did some organizational/planning work I needed to sort out, got another Ekwara page loaded up into the queue, and did this week’s Crimson Flag pencils. Plus, did the previously mentioned errand, walked four miles, and had an avocado for dinner. That… is not really a responsible dinner, but that’s okay. If you’re an artist type, check out Artslam - http://community.livejournal.com/artslam/478165.html - they’re open for new signups for the summer. It’s an awesome art challenge where you pick a theme and try to complete 30, 60 or 90 concept sketches. I’ll be using Ekwara as my theme again this year, and mirroring my worldbuilding stuff on this journal (and maybe the Ekwara site? I’d have to figure that one out.) leave a commentUncategorized: comic commission drau ekwara jaunx peacock |
