Some Monsters

Here’s what I’ve drawn.  ETA - I put the ACEOs up in my etsy shop.  I’m keeping the chimera and the bunny :3  I hope all of you who celebrated Monster Day, today, had a good time!  I’m still hanging out and doodling, but am pretty relaxed and unproductive, now… and that’s good, too.

MONSTER DAY

It seems I’ve stumbled into a nest of holidays, this week.  Sunday was Valentine’s Day, Monday was President’s Day, and today is both Mardi Gras and Monster Day.  Even without the inclusion of holidays I made up, that’s still a fun combo, there.  Today is also Statehood Day in Lithuania.  I like Wikipedia.

Monster Day is when you eat mark-down Valentine’s Day candy (or delicious vegetables), watch monster movies and listen to monster songs, and draw monsters.  I’ll be posting my monsters in another post at the end of the day, and you are invited to use either that post or this one to post your own!  Or make your own post and link to it, here.  (Please keep all content here in my journal PG, and if you’re reading this on my website blog, comments don’t work, so boogie on over to my livejournal)

What counts as a monster? I get this question every year, along with ‘I don’t have any monster movies, does ____ count?’  I’m not going to tell you how to define monster (wikipedia will!) Only MONSTERS count as monsters, my friends, and being caught without monsters on Monster Day is considerably more dire than not wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day.  At least it would be, if any monsters show up at your place.

Is this like icon day?  No, I’m not drawing requests.  I’m just drawing monsters.  YOU DRAW MONSTERS TOO!  RAAAAAAR!

Icon Sketches

Here are more penciled icons!  Some I need to rework a little, but my initial pencils are pretty rough anyway, and that’s how I like ‘em.  I’m not quite done with the rest, yet, but I’ll have those soon.  Today is MONSTER DAY, and I intend to celebrate.  Then, back to the icon mines XD

Oh man, now I really want to do an ‘Icon Mine’ picture.  That’d be fun.

This weekend was pretty busy for me, so my card for yesterday is just a quick doodle I did for Stoker.  That counts, because I say so.

I think it’s time to clean my scanner.  It looks like I’ve got some watercolor smudges on it. :P

Dracula and Monster Day

And if you missed it last night, Ekwara updated, too, and so did Crimson Flag!

Some of you might remember that February 16th is Monster Day.  Evidently this year, the sixteenth is also some other holiday no one’s ever heard of.  Mardi Gras?  Whatever.  It’s Monster Day!  The traditional (three years strong!) tradition of Monster Day is to go buy a ton of mark-down Valentine’s Day candy (or fresh vegetables), to watch monster movies and listen to monster music while drawing monsters.  If you can’t draw, you get to draw monsters anyway.  Everyone can draw on Monster Day!

Yes, it’s a holiday I made up, but it’s a holiday I made up that I’ll be celebrating for the third year in a row this Tuesday, and that counts for… monsters!  If anyone else would like to celebrate, too, you are invited.  I’ll make a post on Tuesday for posting my Monster Day creations, and you’re invited to post yours, as well :)  (For those of you posting comments via my blog, there’s a bug that prevents comments from displaying, so you’re better off posting in my livejournal)

I think I’ve been through the worst of giving up soda.  I had a pretty tough time waking up this morning, but am feeling pretty good, now that my Dracula page is done.  I’m aiming to have all of the icons penciled and posted before Monster Day, and then after that, I have some other cool stuff planned.  It’s been a bit of a slow week for me, but giving up soda’s going to be worth it in the long run.
