Early Morning Status Report of Dooooom!

Hi guys! I haven’t done a status update for the current Icon Day in a little bit, so I thought I’d let you all know that the icons are coming along, and I’m expecting to have them finished in a week or so. I’m also working on a few other things, and will be posting pictures as I get them completed!

I got the tarot deck in the mail yesterday, and it seems that all my worries about the appearance of the cards were unfounded. They look great! The card stock and color is definitely pro quality, and the off-center issue, while it does show up on a few cards, is minor and something I think I only noticed because I was looking for it. Of course, I’ll have some photos of the cards so you can judge it for yourself, but I’m quite satisfied with this product.

So, later on today, I’m going to put together a post with photos and such, and start the whole preorder thing, to get this ball rolling!

I’ve put together a store section of my site, featuring the originals I have up for sale, and also information on my current commission rates. I’ve decided to move things onto my site instead of going through Etsy, for simplicity’s sake. As I put new pieces in there, I’ll be linking them to their blog posts, with info about the art, and all that good stuff. In other news, things are going well in my neck of the woods. I’ve been busy, working on the pencils for Icon Day, getting website stuff sorted out, and a few other things. August is already shaping up to be a cool month. I drew some dinosaurs I still need to get scanned in to show you guys…

Also, Ekwara is off my vacation hiatus and updating Tuesday through Saturday, though I seem to have misplaced yesterday’s update. I’ll be remedying that today along with today’s page. Dracula is going off vacation hiatus this Saturday. Crimson Flag continues to update every Saturday!

I’ve been doing more writing, lately, which is awesome. I picked up a fun program called Write or Die, which lets you enter in a time or word count goal, and punishes you if you don’t stick with it. There’s a free online version, too! If you haven’t seen it already, it’s worth a look.

Back when I was writing adventures for the summer camp in Colorado, my writing ability was the sharpest it’s been, I think. I enjoy writing fast. It keeps my inner critic busy and lets me focus on the story itself. There’s something about that zone of words pouring out of your mind, through your fingers and onto the page at a breakneck speed that is satisfying in a way even drawing isn’t. I’m not so confident in my descriptions and all that good stuff, but I’m working on it, and might have something to show for that, too. For now, I’m happy to practice.

First of all, good morning! Icon Day is still going, and will be going until later this afternoon. I’ll close requests at some point before or around 6. There’s still plenty of time to go get an icon and to tell your friends! http://djinni.livejournal.com/240109.html Tips have gotten to the point where everyone who tips gets a bonus jack-o-lantern icon. If tips go high enough, instead of that for a second icon, everyone who tips gets a second icon of their character or whatever they requested.

Computer Hijinx

Okay, so, about this blog I apparently have… haha

I wanted to get an update up, since I’ve been quiet lately.  Largely this is because I’m working on the icons and tip pictures.  I’ve been surprised with a trip back home to Colorado to visit family from the 10th to the 19th.  This will be a working vacation, and I’ll be drawing while I’m out there, definitely with internet and email access, and very likely also scanner access.  Icons will be finished up this weekend, and Icon Day will follow once I’m sure I have everything squared away and in the mail - probably once I’m in Colorado.  Thank you for a little patience there - I didn’t plan on making a trip this month.

My main computer just bit the bullet, so my day’s been a little scrambled.  I’ve been meaning to make the switch to my mac as my primary computer.  Data backups, scanner drivers and whatnot aren’t a concern, so other than slowing down my day a bit, it’s no big deal.  ETA - I’ve already put Dracula on hiatus until I get back from my trip, and after even more computer problems today (net went out while I was trying to get everything organized), I’ve decided to hold off on posting Ekwara pages until I get back, too.  It’ll only be a week and change, though, so never fear!  This’ll let me keep up with work while in Colorado, while a little less chained to the computer.

Things are going pretty well on my end.  I turned 29 on Sunday, and received many kind birthday wishes.  Thank you, everyone.  I’m really honored to have so many awesome friends.  I’m really excited to see my family and Colorado friends, and also excited for some new projects I have coming up.  The swamp dragon’s head will have to wait until I come home to be finished up, but I have a ton of cloth, yarn, pipe cleaners, and a feather boa to make his glorious mane!

Computer problems have thrown me off my game a little, but things are fixed now (the virus was in the router after all), and I’m playing catchup.  Tomorrow, I get back to work on my usual daily schedule.  Today, getting the Ekwara buffer back in place.  Here’s today’s page, just a little late.  Tomorrow’s page will go up later tonight.

Friday Art, Saturday Comics

First, comics! I didn’t get a post up yesterday, because I was off hanging out with friends last night. I decided to take the rest of the day off, but if I get any new art done today, I’ll upload it tonight.

I did a new thing with my schedule, today, that got me to be very productive!  Basically, my tendency is to do as much as I can on one project in a day, then move on to others.  Instead, I’ve split up my schedule to have a set amount of time for working on various types of projects.  I got to do a ton of different things, today, with no pressure to finish, only to keep working until the time for that was up.  If I can keep myself on this type of schedule, I think I can become a lot more productive.  We shall see!

Scanned this guy and got him on to some Zazzle products (clicking on the image takes you to that section of my store).  The bag with him on it got featured on the site, today!  Yay!  I also set up some things with the friendly blue monster.
